TravCave is built by nomads, for nomads. Every place you add, every review you write, and every edit you suggest helps fellow travelers make better decisions. Here's how to make the most impact.
How to Add a Place
Adding a place is simple and takes just a few minutes. Follow these three steps:
Set the Location
Start by pinpointing the exact location on the map. Accuracy matters — it helps nomads find the place easily.
- Drop a pin on the map by clicking
- Or search for an address and we'll place the pin for you
Add Basic Information
Provide the essential details that help people understand what this place is about.
- Name — Use the official name or the name locals use
- Category — Select the most accurate category (e.g., Coworking, Cafe, Gym)
- Description — A brief overview of what makes this place useful for nomads
- Website — Add a link if available so people can check hours or book
Add Extra Details
These optional details make your submission more valuable and increase approval chances.
Checklist for Approval
Our moderators review every submission. To get approved quickly, make sure your place meets these criteria:
- Correct location — The pin should be within 50 meters of the actual entrance
- Accurate name — Use the real business name, not a nickname or abbreviation
- Relevant category — Choose the category that best describes the place's primary purpose
- Clear photos — If you add photos, they should show the actual place (no blurry images or screenshots)
- Honest information — All details should be based on your real experience or verifiable facts
What Happens After You Submit
After submitting, your place enters the moderation queue.
Pending Review
A moderator or local Sherpa will review your submission, usually within 24–48 hours. You'll see the status on your profile under 'My Places'.
Trusted contributors with 500+ karma get instant auto-approval — no waiting required.
Suggest Edit vs Report
Found something wrong with an existing place? You have two options depending on the situation:
Suggest Edit
Use this when the information is outdated or needs correction:
- Wrong address or moved location
- Updated prices or hours
- Better description or missing details
Report Place
Use this when the place shouldn't be on TravCave:
- Place has permanently closed
- Spam or fake listing
- Inappropriate or misleading content
Writing Good Reviews
Reviews help others decide where to work, eat, and explore. Here's how to write reviews that matter:
- Be specific — Mention details like WiFi speed, noise level, outlet availability
- Be honest — Include both pros and cons from your experience
- Be recent — Your review should reflect the current state of the place
- Be helpful — Think about what you'd want to know before visiting
Pro Tip
The more you contribute, the more karma you earn. At 500 karma, your submissions get auto-approved, and you may be invited to become a Sherpa for your city.
