What is Karma?
Karma is a measure of your contribution and trustworthiness on TravCave. Every time you help the community by adding a place, writing a review, or improving existing information, you earn karma points. Your karma determines your rank and unlocks special features.
Earning Karma
There are several ways to earn karma on TravCave. Each action that helps the community is rewarded:
When your submitted place gets approved by a moderator
Share your experience by reviewing a place you've visited
When your suggested edit to improve a place is accepted
Ranks & Progression
As you accumulate karma, you progress through different ranks. Each rank reflects your contribution level and experience within the community.

A trusted community member. Your places are auto-approved and you may be invited to become a Sherpa.
The Trust Threshold
Earn 500 Karma to Unlock Instant Auto-Approval
Once you reach 500 karma points, you become a trusted contributor. This means your submissions no longer need to wait for moderator review.
- Places you add are approved instantly — no waiting in the moderation queue
- Your edits are applied immediately without review
- You may be invited to join the Sherpa program for your city
Losing Karma
Karma can also be lost if your contributions are found to violate community guidelines or if you receive reports from other users.
If your karma drops below zero, your account may be reviewed by moderators and could face restrictions. Focus on quality contributions to maintain and grow your karma.
Keep Contributing
The karma system is designed to reward genuine contributions that help fellow nomads. Focus on adding accurate, helpful information and your karma will naturally grow. As you progress through the ranks, you'll unlock new privileges and become a valued member of the TravCave community.
